Dudhsagar Waterfall

one of the most amazing places is the Dudhsagar Waterfall, which is among the best waterfalls in India. The name of the falls translates in English to Sea of milk due to the transformation of the water colour from blue to white as it crashes to the bottom.

The falls are 60 KM from Panaji in the state capital of GOA. The fall is the 5th largest in India, measuring 310 meters. The best time to visit the falls is at the peak of the monsoon season when the river is at its highest flow. The fall splits into 4 tiers creating a truly awesome scene.

Unchalli Falls

Unchalli Falls, also known as Lushington Falls, is a waterfall created by a 116-metre (381 ft) drop in the Aghanashini river. The fall is located near Sirsi in Uttara Kannada District of Karnataka, India. The falls are named for J. D. Lushington, a District Collector for the British Government, who discovered the falls in 1845.

Heggarne, a hamlet in Uttara Kannada district, is 20 km from Sirsi. The falls are reached by a 5-kilometre (3.1 mi) trek from Heggarne through thick forest. Here the river makes a cavalcade of water falls and eventually leaps into a steep valley to form a spectacular, picturesque waterfall. The falls are sometimes called Keppa Joga because of the deafening sound they make.

Meenmutty Waterfalls

Meenmutty Falls is located 29 km from Kalpetta in Wayanad District in the state of Kerala, India. It is a three-tiered waterfall with a height of 300 metres. Meenmutty is a combination of Malayalam words Meen (fish) and Mutty (blocked). Meenmutty Falls can be reached thorough a 2 km hike though the jungle from the Wayanad-Ooty road. Meenmutty waterfalls are dangerous during rainy seasons due to high inflow and many people have drowned since 1991.

Athirapilly Waterfall

Talakaveri

Talakaveri is the place that is generally considered to be the source of the river Kaveri. It is located by Brahmagiri hill (not to be confused with the Brahmagiri range further south) near Bhagamandala in Kodagu district, Karnataka bordering Kasarkod district of Kerala. It stands at a height of 1,276 m. above sea level. However, there is not a permanent visible flow from this place to the main rivercourse except during the Monsson.

A tank or kundike has been erected on a hillside by kodavas, at the place that is said to be the origin. It is also marked by a small temple, and the area is frequented by pilgrims mainly it is the worship place of kodavas. The river originates as a spring feeding this tank, which is considered to be a holy place to bathe on special days. The waters are then said to flow underground to emerge as the Kaveri river some distance away. The temple has been renovated extensively by the state government recently [2007].
