Shri Krishan Janambhoomi

Shri Krishna Janmbhoomi is the main tourist attraction of Mathura. It holds a great religious significance. It is believed that Lord Krishna was born to Devaki and Vasudev at this place only where the temple is situated. The articles obtained from the excavation of the place stand testimony to that.

Built in 1814, the temple is situated in the heart of the city. The architecturally interesting temple is located in the eastern part, close to Yamuna River.

Lakhs of devotees throng the place during Janmashtami. Currently, the temple is being managed by the followers of the Vallabhacharya sect.

Vishram Ghat

Out of the 25 ghats in the city of Mathura, Vishram Ghat is considered to be the most important. It is a bath and worship place on the banks of river Yamuna. It is believed that Lord Krishna, after killing Kansa rested on this Ghat.

The traditional parikrama of all the holy spots in Mathura begins and ends at Vishram Ghat only.

The ghat is surrounded by beautiful temples all around. The main attraction of the ghat is the Aarti that happens every evening. Thousands of small oil lamps can be seen gliding on the river at that time; creating a spectacular sight.

Dwaradhish Temple

Mathura is the birth place of Lord Krishna who is the most renowned and most endearing incarnation of the Lord Vishnu. Today it has become one of the very famous pilgrimage destinations in India. Tourists from far and wide places come here to breathe that air which still contains the aroma of the deity. This nucleus of Brajbhumi is easily accessible from Delhi which is located around 145 km south-east and Agra which is around 58 km north-west. And the site that truly nurtures the aromatic deity’s charm in every nook and corner is the Dwarkadish Temple in Mathura, touted to be one of the very holy places in Mathura.

The Mathura Dwarkadish Temple was erected in 1814. It is situated in the heart of the town. It is run by Vallabhacarya followers. It enjoys an exclusive architectural magnificence and performs some of the very unique and interesting rituals. Sitting close to Yamuna River, the spectacle of this site is a treat for eyes.

Rangbhoomi

Mathura is the birthplace of Lord Krishna. Mathura is the best place to acquaint yourself with the religious heritage of India. It is the only holy town positioned along the shores of River Yamuna is one of the few that are mentioned both in history and mythology. Mathura is naturally rife with the stories of Krishna and Mathura was his birthplace. Krishna was not only born here but also spent a major part of his life here. It is mentioned in the renowned Hindu epic of Mahabharata. Rangbhoomi, Mathura situated opposite to the post office in Mathura, is said to be the wrestling arena where Krishna killed Kansa in a duel.

As per the Hindu mythology, Kansa had put his father and parents of Lord Krishna in prison and usurped the throne. Krishna killed him and set his parents free reinstating his maternal grandfather Ugrasena on the throne. Mathura Rangbhoomi was the witness to the duel where Lord Krishna killed the evil demon Kansa.
